The Parisian made a big splash when he returned to his home city to sign for PSG from Monaco on an initial loan deal.

Remember in the summer when Kylian Mbappe's transfer saga lasted as long as any other of the laborious moves that takes forever and we thought that was it once he actually moved? Well we were all wrong, here's the latest twist.

Will he move or won't he move was the big question about Kylian Mbappe back in the summer. If he was going to move most expected it to be to Real Madrid, with Liverpool and Arsenal holding faint hopes of swooping in too.

The Frenchman had exploded onto the world stage last season, helping Monaco to an unlikely Ligue 1 title and an even more unlikely run to the Champions League semi-final.

In the end Mbappe chose to move back to his home city of Paris to join the super rich PSG after the capital side had already secured the signing of Neymar for £198 million.

However despite choosing Paris apparently the teenager's preferred choice was a move to replace Neymar at Barca. That's according to Lionel Messi's former agent Josep Maria Minguella who told Cadena Cope, via Goal:

"It would have been €120 million plus €30m bonus [a move to Barcelona]. The boy only wanted to go to Barcelona when he learned that Neymar was leaving. He didn't want to go to Paris or Madrid, who have their front three, he wanted to go there and nowhere else.

"But Barca were on Dembele, Dembele and Dembele, because a year earlier they had wanted to sign him for €15 million."

With the Catalans hell bent on replacing Neymar with a player who was more winger than forward their interest was in Borussia Dortmund's Dembele who they signed for big money.

Mbappe, according to the agent who brought Rivaldo and Diego Maradona to the Camp Nou, didn't want to go to Real Madrid because of their infamous BBC front three.

And Minguella thinks there's only one man to blame for the failure to take the 18 year-old to La Liga in the summer and that's under fire Barcelona president Maria Bartomeu taking the flak.

The agent saying, "I've nothing against Bartomeu, but he's a disaster. These are the key moments. I fully understood that he didn't want to go to Madrid or Paris. He'd have been mad with joy to play alongside Lionel Messi."

Mbappe at Barca with Messi sounds almost too good to be true, and it is!
