Wrexham have reportedly made a club record bid ahead of Friday's transfer deadline day.

The Red Dragons, backed by their Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, have been busy adding to their squad after sealing promotion to League One.

So far, the likes of Ollie Rathbone, Arthur Okonkwo, George Dobson and Callum Burton have all moved to Wrexham.

Ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline day, it has been claimed that Wrexham have had a club record bid rejected.

As reported by Football Insider, the Red Dragons’ bid of £750,000 for striker Will Keane was rejected by Championship side Preston North End.

The report stated: “West Brom are also chasing him and had their own bid rejected for him last week. Cardiff also are interested in the 31-year-old and are weighing up a move for the former Manchester United youngster.

“All three clubs are in competition to land Keane’s signature before the 31st August cut-off.”

Keane, 31, started three of Preston’s opening five games and netted the winner as they beat Luton Town 1-0 last weekend.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, Preston could decide to cash in on Keane if a suitable offer comes in.

The Republic of Ireland striker came through the ranks at Manchester United and spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston.

In 2016, Keane left Old Trafford permanently as he signed for Hull City, for which he scored one goal in 22 league appearances.

After an initial loan spell, the Irishman then joined Ipswich Town in 2019, he then returned to Wigan in 2020 before signing for Preston again in 2023.

In total, Keane has made 290 career appearances across all competitions, scoring 79 goals.

On the international stage, the striker has earned five caps for Ireland but is yet to score for his country.

Wrexham are back in League One action this weekend when they take on Peterborough at the ABAX Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
