Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid have reportedly sent scouts to keep an eye on a shock England player.

Madrid are arguably the biggest club in world football, having won multiple titles in their rich history, including a record 15 Champions League trophies.

This season, Los Blancos are chasing their 16th European crown and are involved in a three-way fight with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for the La Liga title.

Over the years, Madrid have signed some of England's best players, such as Michael Owen, Steve McManaman and most recently, Jude Bellingham.

Ahead of the summer transfer window, having already been heavily linked with Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold, it has been claimed that Madrid have their sights set on another Three Lions player.

Real Madrid 'send scouts' to watch shock England player

As reported by the Daily Mail, the reigning European champions are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, who returned to action for the Eagles after a lay-off following hernia surgery.

Wharton, 21, was included in England's Euro 2024 squad and is expected to be selected by new boss Thomas Tuchel for the upcoming international break.

The report claimed that Madrid's chief scout, Juni Calafat, is an admirer of Wharton and club staff have been sent to keep a close eye on the midfielder's progress.

Aside from Madrid, it has been suggested that Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United have all previously shown interest in the youngster.

Wharton has made a total of 16 appearances across all competitions for Palace so far this season and has registered one assist.

The 21-year-old is reportedly valued at around £70 million by the Selhurst Park club, who will face tough battles to keep hold of their star players such as Wharton, Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Palace are back in action this weekend when they take on Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
