Rasmus Hojlund drops Man Utd transfer hint on Kobbie Mainoo Instagram post

Rasmus Hojlund drops Man Utd transfer hint on Kobbie Mainoo Instagram post

It's a hint on his future.

Rasmus Hojlund 'liked' Manchester United's Instagram posts amid speculation he is set for an Old Trafford move.

United are reportedly optimistic of signing Hojlund from Atalanta before their season starts against Wolves on August 14.

While the club do not wish to pay more than £60million for the attacker, who has played fewer than 90 first-team games across his career, there is allegedly a firm belief the 20-year-old will join in the next two and a half weeks.

After a 2-0 friendly loss to Real Madrid at the NRG Stadium, Erik ten Hag was asked about Hojlund.

“We never talk about players under contract with another club,” the manager said. “We have our targets, we are 24/7 busy with it, with the right player to sign a contract with us.”

Hojlund is understood to have agreed personal terms with United and although Ten Hag side have also been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt’s France international Randal Kolo Muani, United are said to be closing in on signing the Dane.

And Hojlund is reportedly keen to join the Premier League giants, having even hinted as much on his social media.

The striker liked a picture on United's official Instagram wishing youngster Kobbie Mainoo a speedy recovery from injury.

Ten Hag side are waiting anxiously to discover the extent of the injury that forced Mainoo out of last night's defeat by Real Madrid.

After an eye-catching performance against Arsenal on Saturday, Ten Hag selected the 18-year-old to play against Los Blancos in Houston. However, Mainoo lasted a matter of minutes before Rodrygo accidentally collided into him after being barged by Casemiro.

Ten Hag has embraced youth throughout pre-season. Indeed, according to the Guardian, Hojlund’s age means that while he is not yet the complete forward, there is confidence within United’s hierarchy that the Dutchman can develop the striker's full potential. Moreover, the United boss is said to be impressed with Hojlund’s determination to work hard to improve.

While Hojlund is regarded by United primarily as a No 9, Ten Hag would allegedly look to deploy him across the frontline on occasion.
