A new favourite has emerged in the race to sign French midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba, 32, is currently a free agent after his suspension ended back in March.

The former Manchester United and Juventus star was originally banned for four years after testing positive for DHEA - a compound that promotes the production of hormones in the body, including testosterone.

However, Pogba's ban was reduced to 18 months after a successful appeal.

Ever since his ban expired, the 2018 World Cup winner has been linked with a host of clubs, including the likes of Newcastle, United and Marseille.

On Friday evening, it was claimed that Pogba had been offered a contract by Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote: "AS Monaco have offered a two year contract to Paul Pogba with talks underway. Negotiations and discussions over project continue this weekend to try reach an agreement. Monaco are working on both Ansu Fati and Paul Pogba deals.

"The conversations are well underway and continuing in next 24h. Monaco want both Pogba and Ansu Fati, talks are advancing… waiting for Paul’s final green light. Contract until June 2027, as reported."

However, on Saturday, a new favourite emerged in the betting market.

According to OddsChecker, MLS side Inter Miami are the favourites to sign Pogba, having been priced at 9/4.

The likes of United (9/2), Marseille (9/2), Al Ittihad (10/1), Barcelona (16/1) and Al Nassr (20/1) have also been listed. Odds were correct at the time of writing.

On Saturday morning, Romano delivered another update on Pogba's potential move to Monaco.

He added: "AS Monaco will insist this weekend to get both Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati deals over the line. Negotiations underway."

So far in his career, Pogba has made a total of 423 club appearances, scoring 73 goals.

On the international stage, the midfielder has been capped 91 times by France, scoring 11 goals in the process.
