Manchester United handed boost in wish to sign Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat

Manchester United handed boost in wish to sign Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat

The Morocco international is a target for the Old Trafford club this summer.

Manchester United have learned that wantaway Sofyan Amrabat is 'waiting to fly' to the UK to secure a move to Erik ten Hag's side, who have still not bid for the Fiorentina star.

United have been active in the summer transfer market and brought in three new additions so far.

Midfielder Mason Mount joined from Chelsea for an initial £55m, while Andre Onana arrived from Inter Milan to become David de Gea's successor.

And young striker Rasmus Hojlund has been signed from Atalanta in a £72m deal, but is yet to make his United debut yet due to recovering from injury.

For the rest of the transfer window, it remains to be seen yet if United can bring in any further additions, and this will likely hang upon what funds can be generated via player sales.

Anthony Elanga has departed for Nottingham Forest, Fred has moved to Fenerbache, while Alex Telles has moved to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, while other young players have also departed for transfer fees.

Other squad players who could be sold to raise funds this summer include Dean Henderson, Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek.

With the departure of Fred and Scott McTominay also being a potential who could head out of the door, United require reinforcements in the engine room to complement Casemiro.

Reports suggest that the midfielder has already agreed personal terms over a move to Old Trafford, but United are yet to officially lodge a bid for the Morocco international.

The transfer fee that United would have to part with to bring Amrabat to Old Trafford would be around £30m.

And should United make a move to sign the midfielder, Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, via Metro, reports that Amrabat is 'waiting to fly' to Manchester once a deal has been agreed by both clubs.
