A former Manchester United star who was banished by his new club could be on the move again.

During the summer transfer window, central defender Eric Bailly left United after having his contract terminated by the Old Trafford club.

Bailly was signed during Jose Mourinho’s tenure at the club for a deal worth a reported £30 million.

On the back of his time with United, the Ivory Coast international moved to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas.

However, in recent weeks, it has been reported that Bailly has been banished by the Turkish club.

A club statement read: "Information from our club. 5 players from our Football A Team have been excluded from the squad.

"Our Football Teams General Coordinator Samet Aybaba; He announced that Vincent Aboubakar, Valentin Rosier, Eric Bailly, Rachid Ghezzal and Jean Onana were excluded from the squad due to poor performance and incompatibility within the team.

"Our work on the new staff structure continues. We respectfully present it to the public."

In response to the statement, Bailly’s agent said, via BBC Sport: “We are shocked and it took us by surprise.

“We are preparing our reaction since we know Eric has done nothing wrong. The player's rights are being violated and we will make sure to protect him”

However, it has now been claimed that Bailly could leave Besiktas.

According to Radio Castellon, Spanish La Liga side Villarreal have enquired about Bailly’s availability.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said: “Villarreal are considering Eric Bailly as an option. (They are) working on a new centre-back for they January transfer window. Bailly, prepared to leave Besiktas and one of the names for Villarreal.

“Nothing agreed yet, just early stages (of discussions).”

The 29-year-old previously played for Villarreal between 2015 and 2016, making a total of 47 appearances, scoring one goal.
