Manchester United could target three Newcastle United players if Dan Ashworth is appointed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe at the Old Trafford club.

Back in December, it was announced that British billionaire and INEOS boss Ratcliffe had agreed a deal to buy a 25 per cent stake in the Old Trafford club.

It has been reported that Ratcliffe and his team will head up the football operations whilst the Glazers deal with the commercial side.

On Tuesday, the Premier League officially confirmed Ratcliffe’s deal.

Since Ratcliffe’s arrival, his INEOS team have already lured chief executive officer Omar Berrada from rivals Manchester City.

Now, it has been reported that United are interested in Newcastle’s Ashworth as sporting director.

On the back of the latest development, here are three players United could target if Ashworth joins the club.

Bruno Guimaraes

Brazilian star Guimaraes is one of Newcastle’s biggest stars after impressing in the middle of the park.

Former United man Louis Saha has previously urged the club to sign the midfielder, who could be the perfect partner for Casemiro.

Saha said: “This is definitely an option that Manchester United can look at because Bruno is a quality midfielder, but they also need to find midfielders that are best suited to Erik ten Hag’s style of play and vision.”

Sven Botman

It has been reported that United would like to add to their defensive ranks in the summer, with the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Jean Clair Todibo linked.

The club could turn to Botman under the guidance of Ashworth, having been linked with the Dutchman when he was playing for French side Lille back in 2021.

Alexander Isak

With Anthony Martial set to leave the club at the end of the season, Isak could be targeted.

Before signing for Newcastle, it was reported that United tried to hijack the deal but the striker turned down a move to Old Trafford.

According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, United put a ‘juicy offer on the table’.
