Erik ten Hagis expected to rival Jurgen Klopp for the services of €90m French defender, in a bid to replace Raphael Varane.

Ten Hag seems to have a habit of coming to blows with his own players, with Cristiano Ronaldo, David De Gea, and Jadon Sancho all forced out of the club since his arrival.

Varane fell out of favour with Ten Hag towards the end of 2023, but the World Cup winner has played in every match since Manchester United's Champions League exit after four games as an unused sub.

Despite Varane being back on the pitch his relationship with Ten Hag has reportedly already 'completely broken down', meaning a new centre-back is at the top of the club's priorities.

A report from Le10sport suggests United will rival Liverpool for 18-year-old LOSC Lille defender, Leny Yoro, to solve their predicament.

Given Ten Hag's most recent defensive signing was 36-year-old Jonny Evans, Yoro could be the perfect profile given his ability to be both a current and long-term solution.

However, the report suggests that Lille have placed a staggering €90m price tag on the youngster, and are unlikely to accept any sort of compromise, especially during a mid-season window.

At this point, it is still unknown if Liverpool or United are willing to meet that price tag for the teenager, who has started 16 games in Ligue 1 this season.

Yoro has also been on the scoresheet for Lille, scoring twice this season so far demonstrating his value at both ends of the pitch.

The teenager stands six foot two and is a big physical presence at the heart of Lille's defence, given his age, this is an aspect of his game that will only improve which could be a deciding factor for the English sides.

Jurgen Klopp is in the market as he continues his search for a Joel Matip replacement, as the 32-year-old who is currently injured looks set to leave at league leaders at the end of the season.
