Mohamed Salah could block Liverpool’s ambitious move for Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Over the last few seasons, Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes club.

However, the Frenchman made a last-minute U-turn back in 2022 to reject a move to Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid and ended up signing a new deal with PSG.

On Monday, it was reported that Liverpool have become the most credible and dangerous candidate for PSG regarding Mbappe’s future.

It was claimed that the Anfield club dream of making Mbappe a statement signing.

However, current Liverpool talisman Salah could block the move.

According to the report from Le Parisien, via Caught Offside, Liverpool can only afford a deal to bring Mbappe to Anfield if they remove Salah from their current wage bill.

During the summer transfer window, Salah was heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Professional League.

Al Ittihad were pushing to sign the Egyptian but their efforts were swiftly rebuffed by Liverpool.

Whilst Reds fans would be ecstatic to have Salah at their club beyond this summer, it could spell the end of Liverpool’s pursuit of Mbappe.

Salah reminded everyone what he is capable of during Liverpool's 4-2 win against Newcastle United on Monday night after he produced a Player of the Match performance to help his side record a vital victory.

Back in July, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was asked about signing Mbappe, he said: “We laugh about it. I can say that I think he’s a really good player, but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all.

“I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now, but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it.”

Klopp added: “It’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time.”
