Kevin De Bruyne has 'offered himself' to a European giant and is 'willing to take a pay cut' to seal a transfer this summer.

De Bruyne is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Several clubs have been linked with De Bruyne, including a shock English club that would send shockwaves through the Premier League.

Clubs abroad are also keepings tabs on the 33-year-old, with Napoli thought to be interested in acquiring his services.

His preference is to remain in Europe amid interest from MLS side Chicago Fire.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, De Bruyne has set his sights on a stunning move to Real Madrid and is prepared to take a pay cut to secure a switch to Spain.

Per the report, he is ready to reduce his wage to move to Real on a free transfer.

Real are no strangers in dealing with free signings, having snapped up the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba without paying a transfer fee.

Trent Alexander-Arnold appears set to join Real on a free transfer this summer, with De Bruyne looking to follow him to the Spanish capital.

It is claimed that Real have responded 'favourably' to the Belgian midfielder's offer despite the club's policy to invest in young players.

De Bruyne has never played in Spain's La Liga, but he insists he can still operate at the highest level amid his fitness issues.

"I know that I only have one home game left but I just try to to my job and that's what I did today," he said after Man City's 1-0 win over Wolves earlier this month. "A lot of teammates have said that it's sad I have to go too but that's just how it goes sometimes in life. I don't know what the future will be, but I know that I can still play here."

Asked if De Bruyne could still stay at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola replied: "I want the best for Kevin so it cannot be possible to have done these many years without him. He has been an incredible player, but the situation is what it is.

"It's almost impossible to replace this kind of player. It is not just the performance, it is what he means to the heart for our fans for many, many years. The success we have belongs to the players."

De Bruyne has been at Man City since the summer of 2015.

But his legendary spell with the Blues will come to an end when the 2024/25 season concludes.
