Chelsea are reportedly interested in a move for Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun - and they have a 'secret weapon' that could help them seal a deal.

Balogun's future at the Emirates Stadium is uncertain, with manager Mikel Arteta said to be happy to sell the player if Arsenal receive an acceptable offer.

But that hasn't yet happened, with the added complication of Balogun currently recovering from an injury he picked up during the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

The 21-year-old hasn't featured in either of Arsenal's matchday squads this season due to the issue, but did post a photo to his Instagram story on Monday which showed him back at the club's training ground.

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea have held talks with Balogun's representatives over a potential summer transfer - but have been quoted a £40 million asking price by Arsenal.

If they can stump up the fee, however, their 'secret weapon' could help them convince the United States international to move across London.

Chelsea have already completed significant transfer business this summer, including the signings of midfield duo Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia from Brighton and Southampton respectively for a combined fee of £170 million.

Liverpool were interested in both players, but they eventually opted to move to Stamford Bridge instead.

As part of the Lavia deal, Chelsea would have negotiated with Elite Football Group, who represent the Belgian and other top footballing talents.

Their client list is Arsenal-heavy, with past and present Gunners stars having enlisted the agency.

And one of those players is Balogun, who therefore shares an agent with Chelsea's newest signing.

With that link already established, the Blues could take advantage and secure a big-money deal for Balogun - while solving their striker crisis at the same time.
