A shock European club has reportedly approached Manchester United and asked for information regarding midfielder Casemiro.

After a fine first season at United on the back of a reported £70 million move from Real Madrid back in 2022, Casemiro has struggled over the past season.

As a result, the Brazilian currently finds himself behind the likes of Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo and Toby Collyer in Ruben Amorim's pecking order.

During the summer transfer window, the 32-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but a move failed to materialise.

So far in the 24/25 season, Casemiro has made 22 appearances across all competitions for United, scoring three goals.

In total, the midfielder has made 608 appearances across all competitions for the likes of Sao Paulo, Madrid, Porto and United, scoring 62 goals in the process.

Shock enquiry made for Manchester United star Casemiro ahead of transfer deadline day

On Tuesday morning, it was claimed that Italian Serie A side AS Roma have asked for more information about Casemiro.

As reported by Sky Sports, who wrote on social media: "Roma have asked for information about Manchester United’s Casemiro, according to Sky in Italy.

"They are doing due diligence in the event that they need to find a replacement for Leandro Paredes."

However, it has to be said that any deal involving Casemiro and Roma will depend on whether Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes leaves the club or not. Asked about his future recently, the 30-year-old reportedly said: "I really don’t know, to be honest. I live my life and career one day at a time, we’ll see what happens."

Recently, United boss Amorim explained why Casemiro has seen his game time limited.

The Portuguese said: "He has to be the characteristics and then I have to choose the player with characteristics that I see in the game. So it’s just that.

"I have to make some choices. I want to play a style of game that is sometimes different from other coaches and I have to choose based on that, that’s all."

United are back in action on Thursday night when they take on Romanian side FCSB in the UEFA Europa League at the National Arena.
