Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas are having a summer clear-out with nine players transfer listed including a forgotten Liverpool man.

Despite a disappointing league season where they finished sixth, Besiktas secured participation in next season’s Europa League play-off round by winning the Turkish Cup in a 3-2 thriller against Trabzonspor.

They haven’t won a league title since 2021 and head into the season with a new manager with Dutch legend Giovanni van Bronckhorst taking charge after signing a two-year deal.

The former Arsenal man will go head-to-head with managerial icon Jose Mourinho who took charge of Fenerbahce earlier this month.

Van Bronckhorst has wasted no time in overhauling his squad, according to reports in Turkey, and has transfer-listed no less than nine players as he looks to usher in a new era at the Tupras Stadium.

There are plenty of recognisable names for sale including Cameroon legend Vincent Aboubakar who was excluded from the squad last season due to poor performance.

Former West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku and ex-AC Milan forward Ante Rebic have also been told to find new clubs.

Surprisingly, former Jurgen Klopp favourite Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has also been told he is surplus to requirements, just one year after moving to Turkey from Liverpool.

After making a blistering start to life at his new club, scoring the winner in just his second league start and netting in the derby away to Galatasaray, injuries have once again hampered his season with the former England international missing 14 league games through injury.

Sheffield United have been linked with a move for the ex-Arsenal man but his wages could prove to be a stumbling block to any deal.

After his move from Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain admitted he still regularly watches Liverpool games and was impressed by new signing Dominik Szoboszlai.

He told Sky Sports: “I mean, obviously, I watch a lot of Liverpool games, the usuals: Mo Salah still scoring those goals. I've really enjoyed watching Dominik Szoboszlai. He's sort of taken over from my sort of role and I'm really impressed with how good of a player he is and that he plays the game, how I sort of always want to play the game.

“I think he's got so much ability, physicality and just his character as a player. I think he's just what we needed in there. He's been really, really good. Trent tells me a lot how good he is as well. Trent says his shots are better than mine. He's got everything. I know what the other guys that I've played with are capable of so it was more interesting to see the new lads come in, what they can do. I've enjoyed watching him.”
