League Two Tranmere 'popped' Newcastle with sensational team goal, one-touch football at its best

Tranmere scored a stunning team goal against Newcastle.

Tranmere Rovers scored an outrageous team goal, playing one-touch football for their goal against Newcastle United in the EFL Cup.

The hosts stunned their Premier League visitors as Elliott Nevitt capped off a glorious team move.

The ball was played to the right wing, with Josh Dacres-Cogley sending a pass to his centre-back who played a first-time ball inside to midfield.

The ball popped back to Dacres-Cogley, who himself hit a first-time pass before making a darting run in behind Newcastle's defence.

The ball was then played over the top, with Dacres-Cogley latching onto it before squaring a pass to Nevitt who smashed home from close range to complete a wonderful team goal.

Needless to say, Tranmere's goal against Newcastle sent social media wild.

One tweeted: "That’s the Guardiola influence right there."

A second wrote: "That’s some goal that 1 touch football is just so good to watch."

A third added: "How are league 2 playing football like this against premier league, madness."

Another commented: "That's a very nice goal that to be fair. There's some good football gets played below the top tier."

Unfortunately for Tranmere, the goal was ultimately in vain as Newcastle levelled through Jamaal Lascelles.

Eddie Howe's side then took the lead when Chris Wood powered home a header in the second half.

The Magpies face Crystal Palace at home in the third round of the competition.
