This weekend marks the start of a new Premier League season, and both Spurs and Southampton will be looking to kick off their respective campaigns with three points.
The Saints are going into their fourth full season under the management of Ralph Hasenhuttl and the German boss will be hoping he can guide his side to their first top half finish since 2017.
Securing a Champions League spot on the last day of the season, at the expense of their North London rivals, would have overjoyed Tottenham fans, and they will be hoping for more of the same from Antonio Conte and his team this year.
However, with their trophy drought recently exceeding 5,000 days, supporters will undoubtedly be hoping their Italian manager can guide them to some long awaited silverware.
It has been an expensive summer for both sides as they have looked to invest in a number of new players. The £91 million spent by Tottenham so far has seen them strengthen heavily and they have brought in some seasoned Premier League stars such as Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.
Southampton have also looked to the English top division to improve their squad during this window.
The signings of Man City youngsters Lavia and Bazunu have contributed significantly to the £50 million they have splashed so far this summer.
The Lilywhites will be without Bissouma for this match due to a slight hamstring injury he picked up in training and Richarlison will also be serving the one match ban he picked up on the final day of last season.
Southampton will be without their star right-back Livramento, who won’t recover from his ACL injury before the World Cup.
Andre Marriner will take charge of Tottenham’s and Southampton's introduction to the 2022/2023 Premier League season.
Marriner is one of the more experienced referees in the division, with over 377 appearances as the man in the middle.
Marriner will be accompanied by assistant referees Simon Long and RIchard West.
The man charged with the close calls in the VAR box for this clash will be Paul Tierney and alongside him will be Natalie Aspinall as the assistant VAR.
In addition, Tim Robinson has been assigned as the fourth official for this game.
