Fight breaks out between Torres and Savic, both players sent off for wrestling on the ground

Ferran Torres and Stefan Savic were both sent off in Barcelona's 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

There were ugly scenes in injury-time of Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona as a fight broke out between Ferran Torres and Stefan Savic.

Barca beat Atletico 1-0 on Sunday to move clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga - thanks to an Ousmane Dembele goal in the 22nd minute.

Dembele calmly stroked home after a brilliant move, which saw Pedri and Gavi expertly open up Atletico's defence.

But Sunday's league match will be remembered for the bizarre scrap between Torres and Savic that resulted in a red card for the pair.

The moment of madness started when both players challenged for the ball in the 92nd minute.

The Barca forward managed to get the ball away, but failed to pick out a teammate.

However, he continued to tangle with the Atleti defender in a very messy clash.

The clip uploaded by ITV shows Torres and Savic grappling on the ground, with hair-pulls, shoves and headlocks taking place in an eventful five seconds.

They eventually escaped each other's grasp, with the match referee wasting no time in brandishing a red card to the former Manchester City stars.

The Montenegrin protested his sending off as he squared up to the fourth official, while the Spaniard looked bemused before walking off the pitch.

The win sends the Catalan giants three points clear of second-placed Real at the top of the league.

Speaking after the 1-0 victory, Xavi said: "The first half hour convinced me we had the game under control. These are three golden points.

"They have squeezed us, and we have suffered, to keep a clean sheet. Today without playing so well, we got three points."

Diego Simeone added: "The reality is we lost. It’s true the team deserved to get a better result, which did not appear, because we were not forceful enough.

"The two penalty areas are decisive. We did more good things than bad.

"After a poor first 20 minutes, the team competed as I wanted, but that did not change the result."
