Liverpool defender Tom Clayton follows Sadio Mané, Takumi Minamino, and Neco Williams out of the Anfield exit door after 12 years on Merseyside.

The outgoing Liverpool under-23s captain has joined Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee.

He joined Liverpool as a 9-year-old.

Clayton never made a senior appearance at Liverpool, but was a popular figure at the club’s AXA training complex.

According to reports, the Reds have now concluded their incoming transfer business, so attention has no shifted to offloading unwanted players at Liverpool.

Liverpool have already made a fair bit of money this summer through player sales, something which the club are notoriously very good at.

The sale of Neco Williams to Nottingham Forest has particularly caught the eye.

Liverpool managed to bring in £17 million for the right-back despite the fact he only started 6 Premier League games for the Anfield side.

On top of the £17 million brought in through Williams’ sale, Liverpool also managed to earn up to £50 million through the combined sales of Minamino and Mané.

And the club’s business concerning outgoings likely won’t finish there.

Despite joining up with the Liverpool squad on tour in Asia, an exit is also on the cards for Nat Phillips.

Phillips, who played a crucial role for Liverpool in their race for a top four finish the season before last, has been linked with a move to Bournemouth this summer.

The Englishman enjoyed a fine half season on loan with the Cherries last term

So much so that their manager Scott Parker would like to bring him in permanently as they return to the Premier League next season.

Liverpool are believed to be happy to loan Phillips once again to drive up his price tag even further for a future sale, but he is said to be available for permanent transfer if Bournemouth can cough up £15 million.

If the Reds can offload Phillips on top of Mané, Minamino, Williams, and Clayton, the club’s new Sporting Director Julian Ward will be left very pleased with his work in player sales this summer.
