Thomas Tuchel reveals why him and Antonio Conte got heated at full time

The Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur managers both got sent off at full time after a handshake that went extremely wrong.

Thomas Tuchel blamed Antonio Conte for their disagreement at full time, despite the Chelsea boss being the one who held on to his rival's hand.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur rarely deliver a dull spectacle, and Sunday afternoon was no different as the two sides fought out a 2-2 draw.

The Blues twice went ahead, including via a spectacular finish from Kalidou Koulibaly, with the visitors twice equalising with controversial goals.

The main drama however came from the touchline, as Tuchel and Conte clashed on a couple of occasions, including the Chelsea boss nearly doing his best Jose Mourinho impression as he celebrated his side's second goal.

The pair both got bookings during the game and at full time they clashed once more during their handshake, leading to a second yellow each.

Tuchel had appeared to hold onto his opponent's hand and not let him go after the shake, but the former PSG boss blamed his rival for the issue.

"When you shake hands I thought we look into each other's eyes but we had a different opinion so it was emotional," the German told Sky Sports.

The initial arguments happened after Spurs first equaliser, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg slotting home, but there were complaints from the hosts.

Whilst Conte celebrated, the home fans, and coaching staff, complained about a potential foul and possible offside, in the build up to the goal.

Tuchel clearly felt the former Chelsea manager had celebrated too much adding, "He was happy when they equalised and it got a bit heated but nothing big.

"We both got a red card? It was not necessary. But a lot of things were not necessary. Another poor decision from the referee today."

As well as the problems with the first goal, it seemed Cristiano Romero tugged Marc Cucurella's hair before the second goal but VAR didn't punish the Spurs defender.

On the two goals, the 48-year-old said, "I have to say both [Spurs] goals cannot stand. It's only one team that deserved to win and that was us. I'm sorry for my team they don't get what they deserve.

"It was a clear foul on Kai Havertz in the build-up [to Tottenham's first goal], a clear foul. We had one tactical foul from [Reece] James which got a yellow. I don't know how many tactical fouls Hojbjerg and Bentancur did today.

"The situation went on and on, and it was a clear offside on Richarlison. He is in line of the shot. He even goes to the ball, so Mendy can't see the ball. They check it, it is a clear offside.

"And when can you pull hair on the football field? When is that? So we check and nothing happens? It's ridiculous."
