A Premier League fan decided to choose his team of the season and it's gone viral on social media after a few interesting calls.

@CaIebmcfc decided to choose the eleven players he thinks have impressed this campaign and it's no surprise Manchester City and Liverpool dominate.

Eight players chosen play for the two sides currently challenging for the title, five for City and three for Liverpool respectively.

The other three chosen are Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, Tottenham forward Son Heung-min and Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo. Check out the full team below.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker (Liverpool)

Right-back: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Centre back: Ruben Dias (Manchester City)

Centre back: Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea)

Left-back: Joao Cancelo (Manchester City)

Central midfield: Rodri (Manchester City)

Central midfield: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

Central midfield: Phil Foden (Manchester City)

Right wing: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Striker: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)

Left wing: Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur)

Alisson is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in world football right now and his inclusion in net makes sense.

Jose Sa could feel hard done by after a fine debut year with Wolverhampton Wanderers, while David de Gea has ensured Manchester United don't fall further from grace.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo are undersold being called defenders, with the duo vital to how their teams attack.

Ruben Dias is still a rock at the back despite injury issues and Rudiger is key member of the Chelsea backline.

It's in midfield where the controversy rears its head.

City take all three spaces with Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and Phil Foden making a formidable trio.

Foden hasn't operated in midfield much and regularly plays on the wing or up front in Pep Guardiola's system.

He's registered seven goals in 23 appearances and notched a further three assists.

Rodri is another shock pick given the performances of others up and down the table.

Declan Rice continues to impress for West Ham United and Conor Gallagher is impressing on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea.

Others worthy of a shout are Mateo Kovacic at Chelsea as well as Liverpool pair Thiago and Fabinho. Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse could also be considered a dark horse.

Things get more simple up front with the division's three top scorers Salah, Ronaldo and Son.

Salah has only scored five goals in 2022, but he's still top scorer and a decent shout for player of the season.

Ronaldo's return to English football has been a strong one individually, even if United continue to underwhelm.

Son's partnership with Harry Kane remains one of Europe's deadliest and manager Antonio Conte's arrival in November has taken their game to another level.

Who do you think should be in the Premier League team of the season? Let us know in the comments.
