While Rafa Benitez's side had the opportunity to reclaim top spot.

Glenn Murray opened the scoring for the hosts, converting his spot-kick in the 14th minute. But Newcastle equalized in bizarre fashion courtesy of Mo Diame.

From a corner-kick, the ball found it's way to Christian Atsu who horribly skewed his shot from the edge of the box but perfectly found Diame who knew so little yet mustered up a fine finish.

Diame made good connection with the ball as it found it's way over David Stockdale eventually finding the top corner.
