Angel Di Maria rounded off Argentina's thrashing of footballing minnows Singapore with a cheeky back-heel finish.

Argentina raced to a two goal lead courtesy of Spurs' Federico Fazio - who spent last season on loan at AS Roma - and Joaquin Correa. But in the second half, they ran riot scoring a further four goals.

Alejandro Gomez, Leandro Paredes, Lucas Alario all got on the score sheet before Di Maria capped off the resounding friendly victory.

Di Maria's celebration, which saw him put the ball under his shirt, paid homage to his wife after the final whistle. He took to social media to upload the following post:

"Today again a ball in the belly. And today, 4 years ago, they gave you the highest daughter. After 2 months in hospital. I love you very much! Thank you for giving me these strengths and teaching me how to fight it without lowering my arms," via Google Translate.

Unfortunately, the reported 2-3-4-1 formation wasn't employed but he did opt for an unusual formation.

The former Sevilla and Chile boss is famous for his intense, pressing and innovative style of play, and Argentinians got a taste of what they can expect from his reign during his opening match in charge; a 1-0 friendly win over Brazil earlier this month.

Yet he shook up proceedings earlier today.

It was suggested that he'd play just the TWO defenders, which would allow him to play a whopping FIVE attackers, but he actually played a 3-6-1.

That's now two wins from two games for Sampaoli. Not a bad start.
