Having called time on his glittering 19-year career in 2016, Steven Gerrard is working towards becoming a manager in football.

The Liverpool hero is doing his coaching badges and looking to obtain a UEFA A coaching licence in the near future.

After turning down the managerial role at MK Dons and a chance to continue his playing career at AC Milan, Gerrard took on a coaching role in the club's youth side in February, with his duty being to help the up and coming youngsters in the ranks at the club.

He also stresses to young players that talent will only take them so far, the drive, hunger and desire is the other side of the game.

If any young footballer wants advice on how to improve, listening carefully to Gerrard's words isn't a bad good place to start.

The likes of Jurgen Klopp and academy chief Alex Inglethorpe are said to have been impressed with the work Gerrard has done with the youngsters thus far, and it'll be interesting to see what he is able to do with the Under 18 squad for the 2017/18, as the full-time manager.

For Liverpool fans, they will no doubt be hoping the new role for Gerrard is the first major step towards their idol going on to eventually manage the first-team one day.
