Napoli's David Neres slid into German model's DMs with outrageous opening line and they're now engaged

When it comes to DMing someone on Instagram, the opening line is of unbelievable importance.

If you like the person and want to bag a date with them then you simply have to capture their attention from the get-go.

For some, a simple ''Hi" doesn't always the job and people often like to go for something a bit outside of the box.

Napoli winger David Neres is exactly that person. He came through the ranks with boyhood club Sao Paulo in Brazil before moving to Ajax for a reported €12 million in January 2017.

He quickly showed his quality on the pitch and off it, Neres wasn't short of confidence either.

Neres decided to message German model Kira Winona in the hope that he could secure a date with her.

And the way in which he elected to the shoot his shot probably needs staying as he introduced himself and told Kira to "come" to him.

"| didn't have to do much to get my current girlfriend," Neres told Het Parool.

"I saw her on Instagram and I send her a DM with: 'I am David Neres. Come to me.'

"That was enough for a date. German women apparently love Brazilian men."

It worked a treat. The two ended up becoming a couple and in 2020, Kira gave birth to their daughter Hope.

And it as a special weekend for them this weekend. Not only did Neres score his first goal for new club Napoli in a 3-1 win over Como, he then proposed to Kira at a restaurant.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk and Benfica winger posted a series of snaps of he and Kira getting engaged on his Instagram, with the caption: "04.10.2024 she said yes."
