Scott McTominay Used His Hand To Complete 'Around The World' Trick And Fans Can't Believe It

Scott McTominay Used His Hand To Complete 'Around The World' Trick And Fans Can't Believe It

McTominay's trick has gone viral on social media.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has gone viral after using his hand to complete an 'around the world' at a photoshoot.

The 25-year-old has been a mainstay in United's team under four different managers and new boss Erik ten Hag is a fan too.

McTominay played a role in all three of the Red Devils' pre-season wins so far but supporters are not convinced he is at the level required.

Nobody can doubt the Scotland international's desire, but his quality on the ball is debatable.

A video of McTominay performing keepie-uppies in front of a green screen has emerged, likely advertising United's new home kit.

When it comes to performing an 'around the world', he scoops the ball into the air with his hand to stop it hitting the ground.

It is worth remembering that performing skills does not equate to being an elite professional.

McTominay could have done it to put the ball at the perfect height for a photo. Fans on social media are not letting that excuse stand however.

One person said: "I'd give him a 10 for initiative though."

Another commented: "He just stuck his hand there with no shame whatsoever."

A third tweeted: "We're on our knees for Frenkie de Jong at this point."

While someone added: "United actually posted this joke of a skill."

McTominay played 37 times last season as United finished sixth in the Premier League with their lowest-ever points tally.

It was a disastrous campaign and United have now gone five years without winning a trophy.

Despite their recent struggles, ten Hag's arrival has lifted the mood at Carrington.

McTominay told ESPN: "It's a fresh start. You're playing for Man United, you're going to get criticised.

"If you think you're going to come and play for Man United and you're not expecting to get a little bit of criticism here and there, then you're in the wrong job because that's just not how it works at this football club.

"Maybe you need to have a little look in the mirror because that's just part and parcel of the game. Everyone gets criticised, that's the world we live in, social media criticism. You only see it how much you want to see it. That's part and parcel of it as well."

It is expected he will have more competition for a starting position under ten Hag, who is keen to bring in Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

Talks continue over the Netherlands ace, who is currently on Barcelona's pre-season tour of the US.

United return to action on Saturday morning against Aston Villa at 10:45.
