Sadio Mane Meets Fan And Takes His Phone Number, Rings Him Later For A Chat

Sadio Mane has proved once again he is one of the most humble footballers around in his wholesome meeting with a fan.

The Liverpool star has been on international duty with Senegal, where he is absolutely worshipped for his contributions on and off the pitch.

Mane scored the winning penalty in the Africa Cup of Nations final at the start of the year and also sent his country to the World Cup the following month in a carbon copy scenario.

Ahead of Senegal's game against Benin on Saturday, Mane came across a fan who was overcome with emotion in his presence.

Tears of joy flowed down his cheeks and he hugged the former Southampton man twice.

As per Liverpool fan site Empire of the Kop, the fan told Mane: "Sadio, I love you so much. I even reached out to the people from your village just to meet you. Sadio, may God grant you a long life and fill you with health”.

Mane had to go but he did ask the fan to write down his phone number before leaving.

And staying true to his word, the 30-year-old rang him after scoring a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory.

You see the supporter with his phone glued to his ear while everyone else on the bus he was on was absolutely loving it.

The scenes were just superb and it really shows the power of football has.

In November 2020, Mane was reunited with a childhood friend he had not seen for 17 years.

Solo, who Mane used to play football with in Bambali, Senegal, is now a police officer in Bissau.

He was working the Senegal vs Guinea Bissau fixture and managed to alert the attention of a Senegal official, who got Mane to come over.

Solo showed Mane a picture of them as youngsters and the old pals caught up for a brief while.

In his home village, Mane donated £200,000 to help finance a new secondary school so that the current generation of youngsters have opportunities.

He has also paid for a hospital, mosque and sports stadium to be built.
