Real Madrid started a big week in their season with a loss to rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi final at the Bernabeu and Sergio Ramos was worried things would get a lot worse.

There has been some absolute classics in the Clasico over recent years and not usually because they are tight games. Most of the matches that have been memorable have been a big win for one of the teams.

Some of the tighter games have only been memorable for the scraps as Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola's Barcelona tore chunks out of each other in the most heated part of the recent era of the rivalry.

Things have simmered since then but there's nothing either side likes more than beating the opposition, especially on their own patch.

On Wednesday night Barcelona headed to the Bernabeu with the Copa del Rey semi final poised at 1-1 from the first leg. Los Blancos were the better side for much of the night but went down to a 3-0 loss. Luis Suarez scored twice and Raphael Varane scored an own goal.

Suarez's second was from the penalty spot with the Uruguayan calmly putting a dinked panenka spot kick past Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos was clearly worried the goal would lead to a real embarrassment.

According to Marca the Real captain shouted to his fellow teammates, "Let's not let them score six," to make sure that no one gave up.

It wasn't a good start for Real to their big week of fixtures. On Saturday night they face their second Clasico in a week with Barca once again the visitors in the latest installment of the rivalry.

A loss for Santiago Solari's side plus a win for Atletico Madrid against Real Sociedad on Sunday would see them slip five points behind their local rivals.

Following that Solari's side face Ajax, once again at home, in the Champions League on Tuesday. The Spanish side are favourites, having won 2-1 away, but know they can't afford to slip up.

Once again it will be the Champions League run that defines the 13 time winners season.

For Ramos the silver lining from Wednesday was that they didn't concede six, it's not a great place to be for Real. Can they get revenge on Saturday?
