Cristiano Ronaldo Picks Two Players To Compete For Title Of Best In The World

Cristiano Ronaldo has predictably named both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe as the stars of the next generation who could become the best in the world.

For over a decade that title has pretty much gone to either Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, with the pair sharing 11 Ballon d'Ors in 12 years between them.
Whilst Luka Modric broke up the party in 2018 and Robert Lewandowski is the current holder of the title world's best, via the FIFA Best awards after the Ballon d'Or was cancelled, Ronaldo and Messi are still considered two of the best, if not the best.
Both however are coming towards the end of their careers and the new generation of players are starting to be thrust into the spotlight more and more.
Speaking at his unveiling as LiveScore's Official Global Brand Ambassador, Ronaldo was asked which player he considered to have the potential to be the best in the world one day, and the Juventus star couldn't keep to just one.
"It is hard to choose just one player to say this one will be the best, but I think it is exciting to see this new generation of young players, like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, who are coming through.
"Some players can have one or two great seasons, the really great players are the ones that keep doing it season after season, and that is not so easy to do. It takes a lot of hard work, and a lot of commitment."

Haaland had his true breakout season last season, moving from Red Bull Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund but managing to keep his excellent goalscoring up.
Mbappe has been impressing for a while longer, and has already won the World Cup with France, but the pair are now as linked as Ronaldo and Messi.
Much like the current rivals, the Dortmund and PSG forwards play in slightly different positions and have different games so it will once again likely be a choice of personal choice between the pair.
Despite both playing for top clubs, Haaland and Mbappe have both been the subject of huge transfer rumours, with Real Madrid eyeing moves for both in the future, which could be dangerous for every other club.

Ronaldo might have to watch from afar to see if they can keep up their excellent form to show they can do it 'season after season,' with Juventus at risk of missing out on next season's Champions League.
The former Serie A champions lost their crown to Inter this season and must win on the last day of the season against Bologna and hope either AC Milan or Napoli drop points.
Dortmund were also at risk but their win last weekend, coupled with Eintracht Frankfurt's loss, ensured they would be at Europe's biggest club competition next season
