Lionel Messi Fans Surround Antoine Griezmann's Car Demanding Respect

Griezmann hasn't been a huge success at Barcelona and Lionel Messi has been blamed for it, which fans haven't taken kindly too.

Lionel Messi fans have approached Antoine Griezmann whilst in his car, demanding that the Barcelona player pay more respect to the club's all time top scorer.

Griezmann's move from Atletico Madrid to Barca in July 2019 has been far from the success that fans, and the player, would have been hoping for.

Much of the French player's problems have been blamed on Messi, especially by those around the former Atleti star.

Speaking recently on Spanish television his uncle Emmanuel Lopes said, "[Griezmann] was convinced that he wasn't going to be successful within the first six months, but what I didn't expect was that it would last an entire year...

"...Basically, [Messi] doesn't work hard enough at Barca and the training sessions are structured in order to please certain people, which is fine if you don't want to work [as hard]."

Messi fans haven't taken that criticism well and several waited for the former Real Sociedad forward outside of the Barca training ground to approach him, demanding he show more respect for the six time Ballon d'Or winner.

In Griezmann's defence it isn't him coming out with the criticism of Messi and it's not for lack of trying that the 29-year-old can't seem to make it work at the Nou Camp.

Just a few weeks ago he was clearly very emotional as he missed a penalty against Real Betis in La Liga, with the away side equalising not long after.

The France international did manage to score later in the game, with Barca running out 5-2 winners, but there was obviously pressure on him when he missed the spot kick.

Didier Deschamps blamed Ronald Koeman for Griezmann's issues, claiming the forward was being played in the wrong position, and the player's former advisor claimed Messi was 'deplorable,' for his attitude towards his teammate, saying, "His attitude has been deplorable, he made him feel that. I've always heard Antoine say there's no problem with Messi, but never the other way around.

"...It's club that's sick, not him. Last year, when Antoine arrived, Messi didn't talk to him, didn't pass him the ball. He created a real trauma for a more than negative adaptation.

"That clearly left its mark. It was clear and visible. Add to that the president stepping down, the club conceding eight against Bayern and three different managers... The conditions aren't good."

Hopefully the pair can get on the same page in the near future.
