Remembering When A Bird Apparently Pooped In Ashley Young's Mouth

Remembering When A Bird Apparently Pooped In Ashley Young's Mouth

The then Manchester United player appeared to eat bird poop accidentally during a match, but he denied that it ever happened.

It's Ashley Young's birthday, and rather than celebrating the great successes of his career it's only right we remember the moment he's most famous for, bird poo!

The former Manchester United winger, who won the Premier League at Old Trafford, is an icon at the club for simply pushing Angel di Maria, but it's unfortunately the other incident that most remember.

Young still claims a bird did not poo in his mouth many years back even though his wife and kids disagree.

Playing for United against Swansea City in August 2014, Young appeared to have a bird's droppings land in his mouth when he was furiously venting at his teammates.

The cameras zoomed in and the video promptly went viral - to the point where it's probably going to be the main memory fans have of Young despite his title win with Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Literally everyone else, including Young's family, thinks a pigeon did indeed do its business in his mouth but the man himself is still not having all these years on.

"It didn't happen!" Young told the UTD Podcast.

"I've said this for God knows how long. It got to a point where I thought I need to do an interview to say that this didn't happen, but I just couldn't be bothered.

"It had gone viral, it's still going viral I think now. Even my wife and kids say a bird pooed in your mouth, but no it didn't!"

In the past Young has confirmed it was "100 per cent" not bird poo, while an MUTV producer concurs with his statement after apparently reviewing the footage "frame by frame" as though it was a penalty decision VAR were checking.

Still, Young's trolling is unlikely to stop - particularly if his own teammates are on board with it. Jesse Lingard ripped into him when a pigeon was on the pitch in United's win over Leicester City in 2019.

As much as Young plays it down, it looks like he's just going to have to live with it.
