Real Madrid had a goal controversially ruled out following a lengthy VAR call against Liverpool in the Champions League final.
Karim Benzema thought he had opened the scoring until the linesman flagged for offside.
The controversial moment was reviewed by VAR - with the goal allowed to stand despite Fabinho appearing to get the final touch before Benzema slotted home.
Ibrahima Konate, Fabinho and Federico Valverde collided inside the box with the ball bobbling to Real's prolific forward.
But he was deemed offside due to his position behind Alisson.
However, replays show the Liverpool midfielder poking the ball via his knee.

The decision to rule out Benzema's goal sent social media wild.
Fabinho knee slides into the box and hits it straight to Benzema who scores but VAR say it’s offside dkmn this is ridiculous 😭😭

Fabinho literally passes it to Benzema 🤣🤣 How is it not a goal?

Liverpool the dominant team in first half but Madrid fine with that. Madrid should be ahead as Fabinho makes a clear attempt to make a challenge so Benzema shouldn’t be classed offside

HOW is that not a goal? Surely it comes off Fabinho directly into Benzema?

Am I missing something? 😳
That’s a disgrace that is. Benzema’s offside, fair enough, but the last touch game from Fabinho’s knee therefore it should’ve stood. LiVARpool for a reason, lads, LiVARpool for a reason.

Former Premier League referee Peter Walton, though, insists Benzema was in an offside position.
"It is easy. Benzema is in an offside position. The offence is committed if the ball is deliberately played back to him," he said on BT Sport.
"Fabinho, the ball deflects off him, he doesn't deliberately play the ball to him. He doesn’t play Benzema onside. It's only deemed onside if the Liverpool player has deliberately played it."
