Paris Saint-Germain signed one of the most talked about prospects in world football this week.

The French champions brought in 16-year-old wonderkid Xavi Simons from Barcelona ahead of the new season after he decided against renewing his contract at the Camp Nou.

It appears PSG went all out to sign the player.

Simons, who plays as a central midfielder, will reportedly earn €1 million before tax at his new club, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

They also claim that Barcelona thought that wage was ''totally unassumable."

In fact, the club are 'not worried' because their are other talents within the squad with equally as much talent.

The teenager was tipped for greatness during his time at La Masia.

He catapulted to fame when his individual YouTube highlights went viral and in the space of a couple of years, he celebrated reaching one million followers on Instagram.

Simons was even told he was 'certain' to play for the first team in the coming years.

But after eight years with the club, he released a statement on his official Twitter account to confirm his departure:

"I leave a part of me in Barcelona and I will bring a part of Barcelona with me." he said.

"Today is not easy, as saying goodbye is one of the hardest in life and today it's my turn to say goodbye to what has been my home, my family, my life for as long as I can remember.

"It was a dream come true when I put on my first Barca jersey, nine years ago as an under 8 player..."

Simons is currently represented by super-agent Mino Raiola, who is a big fan after publicly praising Simons' talent on the pitch:

"Xavi Simons is a great player, young, with potential and a big future." he said last year.

"We're good friends. Am I his advisor? It's better to be a friend than an advisor, believe me. Honestly, I am friends with all the players that I represent."

Do you think Simons will break into PSG's squad anytime soon?
