Lionel Messi has scored 489 goals for Barcelona in the 2010s. That's the same amount of goals Sunderland have scored in the same time frame.

Bit harsh on Messi, to be fair. He's never played in League One.

Ahead of Barcelona facing Real Madrid for the second time in the week, Duncan Alexander has complied some staggering statistics regarding the Argentinean superstar.

As mentioned, he's got the same amount of goals as Sunderland since 2010.

Messi recently bagged his 44th Barcelona hat-trick against Sevilla which means he has scored more hat-tricks than Shola Ameobi has scored Premier League goals.

Wow. There's more, too.

Messi has scored as many goals (26) vs. Real Madrid as Arsenal, Chelsea, Derby, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham have combined. Incredible.

The 31-year-old is enjoying another ridiculously prolific campaign. He's netted 25 La Liga goals from just 23 games not to mention six in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey.

That's an impressive 33 goals so far in all competitions.

He'll be looking to add to his goal-tally when his side take on Real Madrid in El Clasico.
