Jordan Henderson Criticised For Claiming "I've Missed Bigger Penalties Than That"

Jordan Henderson brushed off his penalty miss against Romania on Sunday evening as 'not the most important he's missed,' and England fans aren't happy.

Henderson finally made his long awaited return to action in England's final Euro 2020 warm up game on Sunday, having not played a minute of football since an injury in February.

The Liverpool captain made an unwanted impact on his return as he took a penalty off Dominic Calvert-Lewin and then saw the spot kick missed.

Henderson, who missed in England's shoot out win in the World Cup second round vs Colombia in 2018, then went on Sky Sports and joked that he'd 'missed much bigger penalties than that.'

Despite England going on to win the game, thanks to Marcus Rashford scoring his own penalty earlier in the game, fans were not impressed with the former Sunderland player.

Manager Gareth Southgate revealed after the match that the Premier League winner shouldn't have been on penalties, and it was in fact Calvert-Lewin's to take.

"We had Rashford on penalties and then Ward-Prowse, and they had both come off," the England boss told ITV Sport.

"We were expecting Dominic to take it, and I was expecting Hendo to walk over and make sure Dominic took it. I'll see what Hendo's thought process was after."

Asked about Henderson pulling rank, Southgate added, "Maybe we will pull rank next time!"

Before kick off, the 30-year-old's inclusion was questioned by Roy Keane, due to his lack of game time in the friendly vs Austria earlier in the week, that he was expected to play in.

The Irishman claimed Henderson shouldn't be involved if he's too injured to play and hilariously asked if he did magic tricks.
