Everton And Spurs Play Out Ridiculous FA Cup 5th Round Game

Everton and Spurs played out an incredible 90 minutes of football in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday night, as the two Premier League sides shared eight goals in a 4-4 draw.

Tuesday's headline FA Cup game saw Manchester United and West Ham United play out a dull game, with the pair only separated by Scott McTominay's goal early in extra time.

Wednesday couldn't have been more different as Carlo Ancelotti's team hosted Jose Mourinho's side in an instant classic.

The visitors started the game stronger and opened up a 1-0 lead, when Davinson Sanchez, of all people, benefited from some poor defending. Spurs dominance suggested they should have been further ahead but it remained 1-0.

Things started to turn in the 36th minute when Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it 1-1 with a powerful effort at Hugo Lloris, with the Frenchman only able to palm the ball into the net. The hosts leapt into life and and Richarlison made it 2-1 just two minutes later, before Gylfi Sigurdsson made it three from the penalty spot on 43 minutes.

Just as it looked like Everton would take their two goal lead into the break Erik Lamela made it 3-2 in the third minute of injury time.

Harry Kane came on for Spurs in the 53rd minute and two minutes later Calvert-Lewin was removed for the hosts because of an injury.

Sanchez scored his second of the game from more questionable defending at a corner just before the hour mark but things were far from done.

Richarlison made it four with an excellent finish from a tight angle into the opposite corner in the 68th minute but Kane's headed home from yet another corner in the 83rd minute to take it to extra time.

However, in a carbon copy of the game between United and West Ham the previous night, it took just seven minutes for the deadlock to be broken in the additional half an hour.

Substitute Bernard put his side ahead for the third time on the night with a brilliant strike past Hugo Lloris.
