Aaron Ramsdale was kicked by a Spurs fan after Sunday's North London derby, although the England international had the last laugh as Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners away from home.

The Gunners stopper initially got into a heated debate with Spurs forward Richarlison after the final whistle had already been blown.

However, as the pair continued arguing just behind the goal, a fan from the home end launched himself forward and kicked out at Ramsdale.

The player didn't look too phased by the incident, but it soon saw a mass of players and stewards arrive on the scene to cool things off.

Tensioned had been simmering all game, with Arsenal very much the dominant side away from home. A Hugo Lloris error and a strike from Martin Odegaard handed Arsenal the vital three points, but the recriminations over the kick will rumble on for days and weeks to come.

The clip, first shared by Barstool Sports on Twitter, has been re-shared thousands of times of already, with hundreds of Arsenal fans giving their opinion on the altercation.

Among the sea of condemnation, many called for an outright ban to be imposed on the offender.

One incensed Arsenal fan replied: "Ban him for life and charge him with assault, example needs to be set."

A second simply added: 'Embarrassing club', referring to their bitter cross-town rivals, while a third wrote 'cowards'.

Others implied that the fan wouldn't have dared to fly-kick one of Ramsdale's teammates.

A Twitter user joked: "[Granit] Xhaka would have him in two seconds."

Several pundits also weighted in with their opinion, as the whole incident was captured by the Sky Sports TV cameras.

Former Spurs man Jamie Redknapp called the kick 'completely out of order and unacceptable'.

Ramsdale was even quizzed by Sky Sports after the game, with Geoff Shreeves asking the 24-year-old what went down with the offending fan.

The goalkeeper responded: "A fan tried to jump over and give me a little punch in the back. Its a shame because its just a game of football at the end of the day.

"Thankfully nothing too bad happened," he added.

Ramsdale will certainly be delighted with the clean sheet and the three points, which gives Arsenal an eight-point cushion at the top of the Premier League table to second-placed Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's men play the other team from Manchester next Sunday, as United travel to the Emirates in hopes of closing the gap to the current league leaders.
