Ralf Rangnick 'Promised £8m Bonus' If Manchester United Sign Top Transfer Target Next Summer

Ralf Rangnick 'Promised £8m Bonus' If Manchester United Sign Top Transfer Target Next Summer

Newly appointed Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has a healthy relationship with both Alf-Inge and Erling Haaland.

Ralf Rangnick has been ‘promised’ a hefty £8m bonus if Manchester United manage to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, according to stunning reports.

United on Monday announced that Rangnick had been appointed interim manager until the end of the season after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Following his interim spell, the 63-year-old German will take up a consultancy role at United for two years.

United have finalised Rangnick’s work permit, but caretaker manager Michael Carrick will take charge of the Red Devils for the Arsenal clash on Thursday.

According to Bild, Haaland’s potential arrival at Old Trafford next summer would land Rangnick a lucrative bonus at United.

The 21-year-old Norwegian striker is under contract with Dortmund until 2024, but Haaland reportedly has a £68m release clause inserted in his current deal.

Dortmund are pushing for Haaland to stay in Germany and are prepared to offer him a ‘bumper contract,’ with his wages to be doubled from £7.5m to around £15m.

And the Bundesliga club want to delay the activation of Haaland’s release clause by moving its triggering date to summer 2023 as part of a new deal.

United’s board believe that the arrival of Rangnick could prove vital in their bid to land Haaland ahead of Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The United interim manager is reportedly on positive speaking terms with both Haaland and the Dortmund star’s father, Alf-Inge.

Former United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen believes it would be a “big scoop” if Rangnick is able to secure the services of Haaland for the Red Devils.

“Football is about relationships. We all know that Haaland is a tremendous talent with an unbelievable goalscoring record. He's young, he's direct, he's quick, he's strong,” he told Stadium Astro.

“I think like a lot of fans I expected him to be at Man United already because of that relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They know each other but for whatever reason it hasn't materialised.

“It is important that you have got good relationships. Maybe Rangnick can bring something to the table and bring someone like Haaland to Manchester United. I think that would be a big scoop.”
