Alisson Becker joined Liverpool just a year ago but he's already become the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, broken an incredible record and turned the Reds into title contenders.

Just over a year ago Loris Karius' mistakes in the Champions League final cost Liverpool the match as he handed Real Madrid their opener and third goal with horrendous mistakes on the biggest stage.

Jurgen Klopp had improved his defence with the signing of Virgil van Dijk in January 2018 but still needed something else to take his team to the next level.

On July 19th 2018 the German signed Brazilian Alisson Becker from Roma for £66.8 million, then a world record for a goalkeeper, and they've never looked back since, with the keeper even voted the Premier League's best keeper.

In just 12 months Liverpool have gone from fourth place in the Premier League to close runners up to the incredible Manchester City team, losing the title by just a point, and won the Champions League.

Just in the final of Europe's elite competition, against Spurs, Alisson showed the difference from the previous season as he made a couple of important saves late in the match.

This year he became the first goalkeeper to win three Golden Glove awards in a single season, being best goalkeeper in the Premier League, Champions League and Copa America.

Last season the 26-year-old kept a ridiculous 39 clean sheets for club and country including 21 in the Premier League, six in the Champions League and five in the Copa America for Brazil.

Some have even spoken of him becoming just the second goalkeeper in history to win the Ballon d'Or, something the former Roma man is playing down, saying, "I just limit myself to doing my job.

"There are a lot of top players aspiring for that prize. I'm just a goalkeeper."

Liverpool were hugely improved last season defensively, conceding the fewest goals, and whilst Van Dijk played a huge part it was Alisson who perhaps made the biggest difference.

One year ago you'd have barely believed how strong a keeper Liverpool could have but Alisson has become potentially the best keeper in the world.

£66.8 million has been made to look an absolute bargain!
