“This man could do everything," said O'Hara. "He was on another planet. Xavi and Iniesta would watch videos of how Scholes played."

talkSPORT pundit Jamie O'Hara has set the cat amongst the pigeons by declaring Paul Scholes as better than Xavi and Andrés.

Football fans love a debate and O'Hara has offered his take on who he believes to be the greatest midfielders of all time.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, former Spurs man O'Hara listed Scholes, Steven Gerrard, Glenn Hoddle and Zinedine Zidane as the four best midfielders in history.

He then went even further by claiming Manchester United legend Scholes would have outshone Xavi and Iniesta had he played for Barcelona.

"How can you not say that Paul Scholes is one of the greatest midfielders ever?" said O'Hara. "I was lucky enough to play against him. He was unbelievable.

"This man could do everything. He was on another planet to anyone I played with.

"He could tackle, he could run. People are so quick to forget the greats. He used to score 20 goals a season.

"Xavi and Iniesta would watch videos of how Scholes played. When I walked off the pitch after playing against Scholes, I'd be thinking, 'I could not get near that man'. He played the game on another level."

A one-club man, Scholes won honours galore during his time at Old Trafford. He lifted the Premier League trophy 11 times, the Champions League twice, the FA Cup three times and the League Cup twice. In total he scored 155 goals in 718 games.

Scholes, though, insists current United ace Bruno Fernandes is a superior player than he ever was.

The Portuguese star has already netted 19 Premier League goals in his short Old Trafford career, also laying on 14 assists.

And Scholes told United's official website: "He's better than me. He's different to me. He scores more goals than me, he creates more goals than me.

"He's been sensational, a big difference.

"Before he came to the team, United could hardly create a chance with some of the stuff they were playing, but now they look like they can score three, four or five goals every game.

"The numbers he's produced are just ridiculous. Let's hope he carries on."
