Thomas Partey suffers huge injury blow before Man Utd clash, it's confirmed by Ghana's national team

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is out injured ahead of their clash with Manchester United and the international break.

Thomas Partey has suffered an injury blow on the eve of Arsenal's clash with Manchester United, and ahead of the international break.

News has broke today that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has suffered an unspecified injury, according to the Ghana Football Association.

They stated on their website: 'Arsenal ace Thomas Partey is left out of the squad due to injury. According to his club, the player picked up an injury in training and could be on the sidelines for a while, however the Black Stars medical team is monitoring the situation.'

It is not the first time Partey has sufferred a potentially serious injury, missing several crucial games in the 2021/22 season run-in and in 2020/21.

Partey had started all three of Arsenal's opening Premier League games in a new inverted right-back role, differing from his usual defensive midfield position.

When Arsenal attacked, he would push up and play alongside Declan Rice in midfield in more of a defensive role, making his absence from the squad a big miss ahead of this weekend.

The Gunners are set to host Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday in one of this season's first huge match-ups, and will now have to make do without one of their usual starting XI players.

It will be a huge miss for Arsenal, but it will be a huge boost for United who will be encouraged by their comeback win over Nottingham Forest last weekend.

The two sides haven't endured the easiest of starts to the season, with United taking six points from a possible nine, and Arsenal taking seven following their shock home draw against Fulham last weekend.

Neither have hit the ground running either, with both sides failing to show the form and fluidity they did last season as the teams finished second and third in the table, respectively.

Both teams are back in the Champions League this season, both are desperately chasing City, both are struggling for form, therefore both need a win this weekend.
