Other articles in this series:

10.) - Son Heung-min

After an unusually below-par campaign last season, Son has stepped up this time around with 12 goals for Ange Postecoglou's side, with a handful of those coming in big games. One of the Premier League's best forwards on his day.

9.) - William Saliba

Arsenal currently have the most clean sheets in the league, as well as the fewest shots faced and fewest goals conceded, and the performances of Saliba are a crucial reason behind their title push.

8.) - Bukayo Saka

Following his goal against Newcastle last week, Bukayo Saka has scored or assisted 20 goals in the Premier League this season. Only three players [Salah, Watkins and Haaland] have more.

In total, the England international has notched 16 goals and 13 assists in 34 games in all competitions this season.

7.) - Phil Foden

Foden netted his 16th goal in all competitions for Manchester City in their most recent clash against Bournemouth, which is the best goal haul of his career to date. He could prove pivotal in the title race.

6.) - Rodri

Nathan Ake and Kyle Walker recently said Rodri is one of the best in the world in his position and it's hard to disagree.

The Spanish holding midfielder has recorded more successful passes per 90 minutes than anyone else in Europe's big-five leagues this season, and has contributed with six goals in all competitions.

5.) - Virgil van Dijk

A leader with a calming presence in Liverpool's ever-changing back four, Virgil van Dijk has been one of the Premier League's standout performers this season.

He hasn't lost a single aerial duel in his last four consecutive Premier League games [Arsenal, Burnley, Brentford and Luton].

4.) - Declan Rice

Following his summer move from West Ham, Rice has taken Arsenal to another level this season, notching four goals and five assists in 26 games for Mikel Arteta's side. His ability to break up play and play forward is unmatched.

3.) - Mohamed Salah

At the time of writing, Salah is the Premier League's second top goalscorer with 15 goals. He also has the most direct goal involvements per 90 in the Premier League this season. One of the world's best, no doubt.

2.) - Erling Haaland

After a record-breaking 2022/23 campaign that featured 52 goals in all competitions, the Norwegian continues to shatter defences with his strength, speed and finishing ability.

No Premier League player has scored more goals across all competitions than Haaland since his debut in July 2020, and he's currently the league's top scorer after netting 17 times in 21 games.

To put his game intelligence into perspective, Erling Haaland has only been offside once this season. ONCE.

1.) - Kevin De Bruyne

It was a tough call between Haaland and De Bruyne but the Belgian midfielder beats his City teammate to top spot based on his performances over the last few years.

He's missed five months of action this season after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury but remarkably, no Manchester City player has provided more assists across all competitions this season than De Bruyne.

He's only played 12 games.
