Bet of the season already confirmed as punter makes £55,000 from incredible £8 comeback accumulator

A punter made £55,000 from an outrageous £8 accumulator on Saturday.

The bet of the season has already come in after a lucky punter got £55,000 richer from an insane £8 accumulator.

On Saturday plenty of fans up and down the country will have put their accas on, typically picking a bunch of teams to win.

But a Ladbrokes customer based in Ireland decided to go for something a little more ambitious and left-field, opting for an extremely creative approach.

He placed a unique "comeback bet" where he needed Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Tottenham to all come from losing positions and win.

It was only a four fold and a quartet of strong sides were selected but the requirements of the slip made it a lot more speculative.

However, in some truly incredible scenes - all four did exactly what the bettor ordered.

Champions Manchester City found themselves 1-0 down to West Ham after James Ward-Prowse continued his fine run of form, but turned it around courtesy of goals from Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.

And it was the same deal with Liverpool, who trailed to an early strike from Wolves' Hwang Hee Chan but won 3-1 after stepping things up in the second half.

But it was Aston Villa and Spurs who provided the late show that saw the punter win big. Villa were losing at home to Crystal Palace but Jhon Duran levelled with a stunning strike.

Douglas Luiz made it 2-1 in the 98th minute before Leon Bailey sealed the win three minutes later.

And at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs left it extremely late to beat Sheffield United. The Blades led through Gustav Hamer's first goal of the season but strikes from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski - the latter's winner coming in the 100th minute - sparked some incredible limbs.

Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: “Squeaky bum time is the understatement of the season when it comes to this one. In the blink of an eye, and in a record-breaking Premier League moment at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, our punter went from zero to €64,000 hero.”

Here is the slip in full:

Liverpool - 15/2

Aston Villa - 19/2

Man City - 8/1

Tottenham - 7/1
