Micah Richards rules one team out of the Premier League title race ahead of Man City vs Arsenal

Micah Richards rules one team out of the Premier League title race ahead of Man City vs Arsenal

Richards has presented his Premier League title verdict.

Micah Richards has named the one team he doesn't think will win the Premier League title out of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.

City and Arsenal face each other on Sunday afternoon in perhaps the most important game of the season, with the winner potentially ending the weekend on top of the table depending on Liverpool's result against Brighton.

Arsenal enter the day in the best form out of the three, having won all five of their most recent games while conceding just two goals.

City haven't lost in their last 10 games, although their 1-1 draw against Liverpool before the international break did drop them down to third place in the table.

But with all three teams back in league action following a three-week break, we're now entering an interrupted final stretch of the season with 10 games to play.

And ahead of the closing stages, Richards thinks the title race will only be between two teams come May.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, he said: "No, they [Liverpool] are not going to win the league. I think it's Manchester City or Arsenal.

"I think Manchester City will win the league - it depends on what happens on Sunday.

"If Arsenal go to the Etihad and win... I think Arsenal have to win, I think they have to win. Manchester City's record is incredible.

"I just feel with Arsenal, remember last season when they had that opportunity, and they had a few wobbles around this time last season? They could go to Manchester City, win that game and put a cat amongst the pigeons? And Man City just walked over them.

"This is a massive, massive day. If Arsenal can win, they can win the league."

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the game, Richards doubled down on his view that City will get the better of Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Should Arsenal go on to lift the Premier League title, they will do so for the first time in 20 years - with City boss Pep Guardiola pointing out that fact in his pre-match press conference.

He said: "To fight for one title that you haven't won for many years is, 'Wow, it's easy'.

"But now for many, many years, still being there [Man City, competing] is, 'Wow'. The benchmark for the new generations in this club, for what we have done is really, really good.

"The quality Liverpool have, Arsenal too, to win, I don't know how many games in a row, score a lot of goals, the quality they play, so I don't think so [that they drop many points]."
