Football fans are in shock after discovering the truth behind Manchester United defender Harry Maguire's real name.

Since moving to Old Trafford in the summer 2019, the centre-back has become a household name but despite this, many fans still don't know his real name.

And when we say his real name, the Sheffield-born England international is called Harry Maguire - but it turns out 'Harry' is actually his middle name.

It turns out Maguire's real name is actually Jacob Harry Maguire and the defender has been going by the name 'Harry' since an early age.

Whilst it isn't breaking news, it's still been a funny discovery for fans who have discovered this at different times over recent years.

Maguire has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence in recent weeks. In fact, the defender has been handed a huge upgrade on EA FC 24 after being named as the Premier League Player of the Month for November.

Maguire played three matches without conceding a goal last month as Manchester United beat Fulham, Luton and Everton.

The 30-year-old has continued his resurgence after being left out of the side at the beginning of the season.

And his improved performances meant he earned a nomination for the Player of the Month award.

Each winner of the reward receives a special SBC on EA FC 24, where players can earn a POTM card for that specific player. EA announced Maguire as the winner of the award on Friday morning.

After being announced as the winner of the November award, Maguire took to Instagram to comment: "Couldn't have done it without my team-mates, the staff and you fans. Your love and support doesn't go unnoticed. I appreciate it."

Erik ten Hag recently praised Maguire's mentality in an interview with MUTV, saying; "He fought back and he showed great mentality. He can be proud of himself. But as I say: we are in a season, we are in the right direction.

"Harry is in the right direction with this team. Now we make the next steps because we want to be successful and Harry is very ambitious.

"He wants to win trophies. So then, you know, you have to give every day your best."
