Jamie Carragher was sat next to Roy Keane in the Monday Night Football studio when he named former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard as the greatest midfielder in Premier League history.
In the aftermath of Leeds' win over Manchester United on Monday night, Carragher was asked to name his top 10 Premier League midfielders of all time.
Gerrard came out on top as Carragher suggested no other midfielder would have taken Liverpool closer to the league title, while also mentioning his eight appearances in the PFA Team of the Year.
In the past, Carragher claimed only Sir Bobby Charlton, who was England's record goalscorer, stood above Gerrard in terms of the country's greatest midfielders, so his pick came as no surprise.

"Another way of looking at it is we didn't win the league," the Sky pundit said. "We'd have loved to, but with the other players on the list, I don't think if we put them in for Steven Gerrard that we would've won the league."

Carragher named former Chelsea and Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas as his tenth-best Premier League midfielder, before picking Rodri, Yaya Toure, Paul Scholes, N'Golo Kante, Frank Lampard and Patrick Vieira.
Kevin De Bruyne secured bronze position in Carragher's list as he claimed the former Manchester City midfielder was the "best passer" to play in England's top flight.
"I think he's the best passer of the ball I've seen in the Premier League," he said. "I mean, there are some great players in there who other people may argue for, but some of the assists he used to produce for Manchester City were unbelievable.
"And I say this a lot about the Jürgen Klopp Liverpool team — that side should have won a lot more for how good they were. I think he was the difference. Liverpool didn’t have him, or that type of player, in midfield."
"I always go back to that game against Aston Villa, the last game of the season, where Manchester City are 2–0 down. I think Liverpool had just scored at home to Wolves. And Kevin De Bruyne basically just turns it on and drags Manchester City to the league title," he added. "For me, he is Manchester City’s greatest player of all time."
Roy Keane, who was sat next to Carragher in the studio, narrowly missed out on top spot as Carragher opted for Gerrard.
Explaining his decision, Carragher said: "I loved Roy Keane as a player even though I was playing for his biggest rivals.
"The thing that annoyed me though was that Roy Keane was put in this box as someone who 'put his foot in and got in the box to get a goal', but he was the best passer of a ball in the Premier League.
"I don't think anybody on that list was better than Roy Keane at finding his No 10 and playing the ball between the lines. There's lots of different players on that list but I don't think anyone ran a game where everything went through them like Roy Keane.
"You were the boss in midfield, no matter who you played with and you ran games at the highest level of European football."
Carragher added that Keane would be his "captain of central midfield players".
