A professional lip reader has revealed what Arne Slot said to the match officials during his explosive outburst that led to his red card following Everton vs Liverpool.

Everton and Liverpool played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in what was the final Merseyside derby to take place at Goodison Park.

James Tarkowski scored a last gasp equaliser to earn his side a point against Slot's team.

A pitch invasion ensued before a VAR review allowed the goal to stand.

After the final whistle, Michael Oliver sent off Abdoulaye Doucoure and Curtis Jones following their bust-up.

He also brandished a red card to Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff, who both delivered fiery outbursts.

New angles uncovered the Dutchman's flare-up with the match officials, seemingly explaining the reason behind his red card.

Slot began his on-field outburst by having a go at the linesman. He can be seen gesticulating before speaking to Oliver then shaking his hand angrily.

Slot was then shown a red card.

Professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman has told SPORTbible what Slot supposedly said to the officials during his post-match eruption.

"That’s not a push? It’s a f**king disgrace... if you go and watch that again," Slot shouted at an assistant referee.

To the other linesman, he then said: "Well done."

Just before shaking hands with Oliver, he sarcastically told the referee: "Great game."

After the red card, the Liverpool boss added: "Sure, you give me a red for that? I will check it out for later... me and you yeah? Sure give me a red card... we'll talk after?"

Slot is set to be banned from the touchline when his side resume their league campaign against Wolves on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Virgil van Dijk expressed his 'disappointment' at the result.

"I think the feeling right now is obviously disappointment, that’s pretty obvious, and it will be for today and tonight. But from tomorrow we focus on Wolves and we try to get the three points then and so on and so on," he told TNT Sports.

"We all know that we have a lot of games up until the international break so there is no point to dwell too much on this result. We wanted to win here, we could have won here, maybe we should have won here. But it is what it is - we take it and move on."

Despite dropping points against Everton, Liverpool extended their lead at the top to seven points.
