Luke Shaw has become one of the highest-paid defenders in the Premier League after penning a new four-year contract with Manchester United

Shaw signed for United in a £30 million switch back in 2014 and has gone on to make 249 appearances in all competitions.

The Red Devils elected to trigger a one-year contract extension in December but with his deal still due to be up in 2024, the club have moved swiftly to tie him down further until June 2027.

Speaking to United's official website, Shaw said: "Nine years ago, I signed for this amazing club, and I’m thrilled to be extending my stay.

"I’ve grown immensely since coming to Manchester all those years ago, both as a person and as a player; I know what is needed to succeed at a club like this."

The England international has been rewarded for his fine form under Erik ten Hag with a substantial wage increase, said to take his total pay packet to £200,000-a-week as per the Daily Star.
