The staggering amount Paul Pogba has cost Juventus per minute this season

The staggering amount Paul Pogba has cost Juventus per minute this season

Paul Pogba suffered yet another injury in a nightmare season and went off in tears in the 2-0 win over Cremonese.

Paul Pogba has cost Juventus an absolutely fortune for very little return after enduring a nightmare season back at the Bianconeri.

Pogba returned to Juventus on a free transfer in the summer after his contract with Manchester United expired and he will have been hoping to rediscover the form that saw him become one of the best midfielders in the world.

However, it's been an utterly nightmare stint for the World Cup winner, who suffered a serious knee injury immediately after signing during a United States pre-season tour.

Pogba would eventually undergo surgery for the torn meniscus but has been plagued by muscle injuries and had his game-time restricted massively as a result.

His latest blow came on Sunday evening when, days after he got an assist in the Europa League semi-final against Sevilla, Pogba made his first start since April 2022.

However, he was forced off after 21 minutes with a thigh problem. The Frenchman left the pitch in tears and was replaced by Arkadiusz Milik in the 2-0 win.

Pogba made just his 10th appearance of the season and Gazzetta Dello Sport have worked out how much Juve have paid for the 30-year old.

He's played 161 minutes of action across all competitions - made up of 108 minutes in Serie A, 42 in the Europa League and 11 in the Coppa Italia.

And for every minute he has been spent on the pitch, the Old Lady have forked out around €65,000 (£56,000).

Juve put out a statement on Pogba's latest injury, confirming he has undergone examinations and started his rehab programme.

The club said: "The diagnostic tests that Paul Pogba underwent this morning at J|Medical showed a low-grade lesion of the rectus femoris of the left thigh. The footballer has already started his rehabilitation programme."

Gazzetta say Pogba will be out for around 20 days and may not feature again this season given Juve's season finishes in early June.

Pogba still has three years left on his deal and no decision on his situation has been made yet.
