Paul Pogba 'Picks Up Injury' Two Weeks After Joining Juventus And A Specialist Has Been Called

Paul Pogba 'Picks Up Injury' Two Weeks After Joining Juventus And A Specialist Has Been Called

Pogba re-joined Juventus from Manchester United earlier this month.

Paul Pogba is in danger of missing the start of the Serie A season after picking up a knee injury during pre-season training.

The midfielder re-joined Juventus earlier this month after his contract with Manchester United expired.

Pogba initially swapped Manchester for Turin in 2012, but chose to return to Old Trafford in a then world record £89 million transfer in 2016.

He is now back with Juventus and started Saturday's 2-0 friendly win over Mexican outfit Guadalajara.

It could be the 29-year-old's only appearance for some time as he limped out of training in Los Angeles on Monday.

An image on social media shows Pogba being assisted off the pitch by medical staff and it has now been confirmed he has suffered a lesion of his lateral meniscus.

The severity of the injury is currently unknown.

Juventus have said Pogba will not travel to Dallas for Wednesday's friendly with Barcelona and will instead see a specialist.

"Following complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus," the club explained in a statement.

"In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopaedic consultation. Therefore, in order to continue treatment, he is not taking part in the trip to Dallas."

Juventus finished fourth in Serie A last season, 16 points behind champions AC Milan.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri has gone about overhauling his squad this summer and two midfielders have been told they have no future at the Allianz Stadium.

Arthur Melo and Aaron Ramsey are expected to move on in the next month while Adrien Rabiot is reportedly keen on a return to Paris Saint-Germain.

It means the Old Lady could be lacking options in midfield when they open domestic campaign against Sassuolo on August 15.

Pogba won the Carabao Cup and Europa League during his time in England but never managed to win over United fans.

Inconsistent performances and a wretched injury record in his final two years saw tensions boil over in April.

The France international was booed off the pitch after being substituted against Norwich City and he was visibly smiling after taking a seat on the bench.

At full-time, Pogba was seen cupping his ear towards the Stretford End and he would feature in just one more game before his departure.
