Arsenal legend Paul Merson has given his prediction for Wednesday's crunch Premier League clash between Man United and Tottenham.

The game forms part of a bumper set of midweek fixtures in the English top flight, with only Arsenal and Manchester City not in action.

United go into the game on the back of a four-match unbeaten run in all competitions, although they could not break down Newcastle in the 0-0 draw between the two sides on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag's side currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, on 16 points. They are three points away from the top four places.

Meanwhile, Tottenham occupy the third of those top four spots, with 23 points from their 10 games.

Antonio Conte's side will end the evening in second place if they win, with one point then separating themselves and leaders Arsenal.

Spurs have won four of their last five games in the Premier League. Their latest victory came on Saturday, when they defeated Everton 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It promises to be an exciting clash between the two sides on Wednesday - but how does Merson view the fixture?

Man United vs Tottenham: Paul Merson gives his prediction

Merson gave his prediction to Sportskeeda as part of his latest set of Premier League verdicts. He says: "This is a hard game to call. Manchester United had a couple of good chances last week, and I don't think Newcastle picked the right pass at times.

"This is a must-win game for Manchester United, and I don't think that is the case for Tottenham.

"Antonio Conte will want to make sure his team doesn't lose this match, and he'll be the happier of the two managers with a draw.

"Tottenham will make sure they don't lose this match."

Overall, Merson predicts a 1-1 draw between the two sides, with the fixture potentially providing plenty of twists and turns.
